Lisa is the epitome of what an Innkeeper should be: warm, friendly, great cook, and cannot do enough for her guests. She greeted us with fresh lemonade, cheese and crackers, and wine. The she drove us to the best restaurant in town and even picked us up. The Inn itself is gorgeous. Highest recommendation possible. Joan and Stan Landers, Old Westbury, New York
Friendly start, beautiful location, not far from downtown area.
Staying in a B&B was somewhat of a different experience than staying in a hotel, and there were a few moments were we weren't sure what was and wasn't allowed. But the owners were very nice, and overall we were very comfortable. When our weekend getaway was over, we were mostly disappointed to leave our room! Yes, this place is more expensive than a traditional hotel, but you absolutely get what you pay for and more. The extra money is worth the gilding that this B&B will add to your memories.
This is one of the best inn experiences I've ever had. Lesa makes you feel like family!
We stayed here for a weekend in the music room and had an all around five star experience. The room was perfectly spacious with a king size four poster bed. The bed was very comfortable. It felt like a memory foam with a soft pillowtop. The bathroom was my favorite. It had huge bay windows, and I could do my makeup in natural lighting. It also had a huge beautiful bathtub, with jets. The ceilings were high for an old style home (about 9 feet). The entire manor was so clean and beautifully decorated. It felt fancy but still like home. Breakfast was a feast. French pressed coffee, a wonderful selection of fine teas (including my favorite Japanese sencha), a fresh fruit cup with berries, a tea cake (different style each day) and eggs (different style each day with bacon/ham/asparagus, etc.) Lesa uses whatever she has super fresh. She was the sweetest BnB owner. We felt very welcomed. There were a large selection of nightcap drinks available, wine and cheese midday and freshly baked goodies available at all times. We highly recommend Blackinton Manor.
The rooms are gorgeous. I stayed in the Music Room, which I highly recommend. It's decorated with floor to ceiling wallpaper, beautiful curtains, a fireplace, antique books, a four poster bed. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub in it, which was wonderful. (Just beware that if you fill the tub with hot water, it'll take a long time for it to cool down to a comfortable temperature). There was cable TV and wireless internet access in the room, a Keurig machine with K-Cups and a refrigerator in the shared guest kitchen, and an in-ground pool outside. The owners also took the time to put together a list of menus and reviews of local restaurants, of which we took advantage.
(One cautionary note! For some reason, their website will let you set your own check in time. Ignore this. Check in starts at 2:30 PM, or whenever it is specified in your confirmation email. I didn't read mine closely enough, and I was politely turned away until they had cleaned my room).
This is an exceptional place to spend the night. My girlfriend and I recently stayed the night there while we were visiting MASS MoCA, and I'm actually excited to leave this review.
